At the close of its third season (spring of 1968), The Children's Theatre Company of The Minneapolis Institute of Arts broadened its artistic activity and reach through the presentation of works specifically for teenage and adult audiences in offering an evening of one-act plays written by John Clark Donahue: Variations on a Similar Theme (an homage to Rene Magritte).
The collection of plays was remounted twice: again in the late spring of 1972 (adding another one act, Donahue's "A Suitcase") and, for the last time, in the spring of 1977 on the stage of the "new theatre."
